Honor Society

The primary purpose of the Honor Society is to encourage Board participation among members in order that they might be better educated, active members to serve their clients/customers and in return bring credit to themselves and the real estate industry. The program is designed for both the newer REALTOR®, as well as those who have held membership for several years. It is intended to recognize those members who are actively participating in REALTOR® functions and events. In order to become a member of the Honor Society, members must qualify each year by obtaining 150 points. Following the fifth consecutive year of membership, a member may miss one year without losing his/her five-year status. The Honor Society is designed to keep members active and involved, along with giving them recognition for their participation.

2016 Honor Society Working Form - The Honor Society Working Form is an aid in recording information throughout the year that will be needed to complete the Honor Society application, which is to be filled out and forwarded to GSSBR at a later date in 2017. You may attach this to your application to identify categories, if you so choose.

2015 Honor Society Application for REALTORS® - for submission in 2016. Complete the entire application. If you total 150 or more points between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015 you will qualify as a member of the New Hampshire Association of REALTORS® Honor Society.

2015 Honor Society Application for Affiliates - NHAR will be sending out, directly, the Honor Society Application for Affiliates to those that are NHAR Affiliates.

REALTOR® of the Year

Do you know someone who has done outstanding civic work, has great REALTOR® Spirit and has been active in the Board? Why not nominate them for REALTOR® of the Year. Please recognize their efforts and nominate them!

This program is designed to give recognition, publicity, and reward to deserving REALTORS® who have given their time and talent in the interest of their fellow REALTORS®, their Board, profession, and community. The selection will be based upon actual performance of the REALTOR® within the definition of the six categories as set forth.

The following standards are recommended for the selection of the local Board REALTOR® of the Year. The final selection of the New Hampshire REALTOR® of the Year will be based on these same standards.

  1. REALTOR® SPIRIT (20%) - high principles, adherence to the Code of Ethics and local board laws and regulations, furtherance of principles of good real estate practice among other brokers and the general public.
  2. LOCAL BOARD ACTIVITY (25%) - Board offices and committee work; special assignments; seminar activity and education work; membership and offices in local chapters of Institutes, Societies, etc.
  3. CIVIC ACTIVITY (15%) - Local, state and national level participation in civic and service clubs, charitable activities, political action, fraternal or religious groups, etc.
  4. STATE ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY (25%) - same as (2) above, but at State Association level; include attendance at state conventions.
  5. NAR ACTIVITY (10%) - same as (2) above, on the national level.
  6. BUSINESS ACCOMPLISHMENTS (5%) - recognized good business conduct, service to clients, imaginative and creative advertising programs, rehabilitation work, land utilization, etc.

The REALTOR® of the Year will be recognized at the local level through publicity announcements to the local media and will be presented a REALTOR® of the Year plaque. He/She will be recognized at the annual REALTOR® of the Year Banquet. On the National level, the New Hampshire REALTOR® of the Year and winners from other states will be honored at the annual award luncheon at the National Convention in November.

The REALTOR® of the Year Award is not based on the number of nominations received, but strictly based on the standards recommended above, as also utilized in selecting the State REALTOR® of the Year. All candidates nominated will be required to provide detailed information on their qualifications which will enable the committee to select the most qualified candidate.
